Staff Nurse Magaret Rogers was a nurse in the newly-formed New Zealand Army Nursing Service, enlisting in July 1915. She served in Egypt and joined a British transport ship bound for Salonika, Greece, to where the hospital was to be moved. After a few days at sea, and only a few hours from Salonika, the ship was hit by a torpedo. Magaret drowned.
Margaret is buried at the Mikra British Cemetery at Kalamari.
